White Water

Nick N., rafting guide (far right)
Last weekend, I attended an intimate Wells family reunion in Westcliffe, CO.  To wrap up the trip, 6 adults booked a white water rafting trip through the Royal Gorge.  Long story short, the trip was AMAZING - class 3/4+ rapids, blue skies, phenomenal scenery, extreme workout, and incredible bonding time with folks I adore.  But the one person who sealed the deal and ensured our return to American Adventure Expeditions was our guide Nick - a 23 year old rafting "veteran" and outdoor enthusiast with a zest for the environment and leadership.  Nick was a rock star.  Not only did he keep us safe, calm and dry (for the most part), he also taught us about Colorado history, the Gorge, wildlife, his background & evolution, quest to educate the masses; he shared his experiences as an EMT and fire fighter in training, and his hopes that future generations can and will be able to enjoy the planet and all its splendor.  And every time we hit a monstrous rapid that threw a few of us around, he followed it up with a very loud and sincere "woohoo!!".  Nick kept us engaged, in sync, excited, and in the raft.  He makes his living and supports his education by working multiple jobs and with tips from rafters.  Because of his knowledge, level of expertise, professionalism, discipline, energy, honesty, and sincere "woohoos", we generously contributed to Nick's future.

BOTTOM LINE?  When you're out navigating the raging rapids and white water of your job search, don't do it alone, partner with a guide, equip yourself with tangibles and intangibles to keep you moving and strong.  Take the ride seriously and be grateful for your life and vision...take in all the scenery, educate yourself, engage others, pay attention, stay on point, share your experiences, dig deep and paddle hard through each bump, and top off each with a sincere "woohoo!".  When hiring managers observe and experience your courage, positive attitude, professional behavior, value and zest for whatever it is you can and will accomplish, they too will invest in your future.

Keep us posted on how we can help you, and lets get back to work!
